Mafiagg Ranked Points and Leaderboard Explained
The leaderboard rewards winning, staying alive and playing the hard roles well. Points are simple enough to compute in your head, and only public games with real players count.
Which games are ranked
A game is ranked when the room is public (open in Find a game) and at least five real players are seated when it starts. Private rooms, and games where table bots make up the numbers, are practice: fun, but worth zero points. Ranked status is decided at the start and shown on the results page.
The points table
Each finished ranked game gives every participant:
- Your side wins: +25
- You survive to the end on the winning side: +5 more
- You win as a Mafia member: +5 more (the harder side)
- You win as the Jester (voted out): +20
- Your side loses: −5
- You survive to the end on the losing side: +2 (instead of −5)
- Your total never drops below 0
Seasons and the all-time ladder
The leaderboard shows the current monthly season by default; the counter resets on the first of each month so newcomers can climb. The all-time tab keeps every point ever earned. The leaderboard page also shows the best players by role, using the same rules counted only over the games in which they held that role, so there is a top Detective, a top Godfather and so on.
A worked example
Nine players, public room, ranked. The town wins on day four. The two surviving Citizens and the Doctor each score 30 (win plus survival). The Detective, killed on night two, scores 25. The three Mafia members, all voted out, each lose 5. A Killer who somehow survived to the end of the town's win would have scored 2 instead of losing 5. Had the Mafia won instead, each surviving Mafia member would have scored 35: win, survival and the Mafia bonus.
Strategy for climbing
Because survival pays and losses are cheap, play to stay alive without being useless: a quiet Citizen who lives to the end of a town win scores 30, the same as a loud Detective who gets killed on night two. Mafia wins are the richest at 35 per surviving Mafia member, so learn to bluff. And never take the Jester bait unless you are sure: handing a Jester their win ends the game for everyone.
Questions
- Why did my game not count?
- Either the room was private, or fewer than five real players were seated at the start. Both are shown as "unranked" on the results page.
- Do guests earn points?
- Only registered accounts appear on the leaderboard. Create a free account before playing ranked.
