FAQ
Mafiagg FAQ: Playing Mafia Online
Short, factual answers about the game and the platform. For the full rules see the guides.
- What is Mafiagg?
- Mafiagg is a free website and iPhone app for playing Mafia, the social deduction party game, online with live voice chat. A built-in narrator runs every phase, roles are dealt automatically, and games are available in English and Arabic.
- Is Mafiagg free to play?
- Yes. Accounts, rooms, ranked play and the iPhone app are free, and there are no in-game purchases.
- How many players can play in one room?
- From 5 to 25. Four table bots fill the empty seats in every lobby and leave one by one as people join, so a small group can start straight away.
- Do I need a narrator or moderator?
- No. The server enforces the rules and a narrator voice announces night, dawn, discussion and the vote. Nobody sits out to run the game.
- What roles are in the game?
- Town: Citizen, Detective, Doctor, Bodyguard, Vigilante and a Second Detective. Mafia: Killer, Godfather, Framer, Consigliere and Silencer. Neutral: Jester. Special roles unlock as the lobby grows; a 5-player game has Citizens, a Mafia Killer, a Detective and a Doctor. The Roles page shows exactly which roles each table size gets.
- How long is a game?
- Nights are 35 seconds and days scale from 60 to 180 seconds with the number of living players. A 7-player game typically takes 10 to 15 minutes.
- How do I play with my friends?
- Create a room and share the 6-character code or the join link. Friends can join from any browser or the iPhone app. Set the room to private for a friends-only table.
- How do I find people to play with?
- Use Find a game to browse open lobbies with free seats, or Quick Match to jump into the fullest open lobby in your language. Both require a free account.
- How do ranked points work?
- Only public games with at least five real players count. A win is +25, surviving the win +5 more, winning as Mafia +5 more, a Jester win +20, a loss −5 and surviving a loss +2. Seasons reset monthly; the all-time ladder never resets.
- Can I play Mafia in Arabic?
- Yes. The whole site, the narrator voice, the role names and matchmaking are available in Arabic with full right-to-left support. Rooms are created in one language so every table shares it.
- Is there a mobile app?
- The Mafiagg app for iPhone is on the App Store, with a native console layout and background microphone support. Android users can play in the browser today; a Google Play release is in preparation.
- Does voice chat work on phones?
- Yes. Voice runs in Safari and Chrome on iOS and Android as well as in the iPhone app. Everyone joins muted; tap the microphone to talk. Headphones are recommended.
- Is the game accessible?
- Every phase is announced by voice and by screen reader, every in-game action has a keyboard shortcut, and the interface passes automated accessibility audits. Press ? during a game for the shortcut list.
- What happens if I lose my connection?
- You have a two-minute grace period to reconnect and keep your seat and role. If the host drops, hosting passes to another player rather than ending the game.
- How do you handle harassment?
- Every player can report or block another from their profile or the table. Reports are reviewed by the operators, and blocked players never share a lobby with you again. Hosts can also kick from the lobby.
- What data do you store?
- Your account details, avatar, match history and ranked points. Voice is streamed live and never recorded by Mafiagg. See the privacy page for the full policy and how to delete your account.
- Who makes Mafiagg?
- Mafiagg is an independent project. You can reach the team at [email protected] for support, press or partnership questions.
