How to Play Mafia Online with Friends (Free, with Voice Chat)
You do not need a deck of cards, a narrator or everyone in the same room. Mafiagg runs the whole game online with live voice chat, so a group scattered across cities can play a full round in about fifteen minutes.
Step 1: create a free account
Sign up with an email address, Google or Apple. Accounts are free and there are no purchases in the game. Your account keeps your match history, your ranked points and your friends list.
Step 2: create a room and share the code
Press Create a room, pick the language of the narrator (English or Arabic), the day timer and whether the room is open to the public or private. You get a 6-character room code and a join link. Send the link in your group chat; friends tap it and land directly at your table, on the website or in the app.
Step 3: talk, accuse, vote
Everyone joins muted and unmutes to talk. The game deals roles, runs the night with private channels for the Mafia, wakes the town at dawn and opens the floor for discussion. When the timer ends the vote opens on screen. There is nothing for a host to manage: the narrator announces every phase and the server enforces every rule.
Not enough people yet? Play with table bots
Every lobby starts with four table bots, Nour, Lina, Faris and Jad. They receive real roles, act at night, chat during the day and vote. As each friend joins, a bot leaves. This means a group of two or three can start immediately and learn the game with a full table, and a solo player can practice any time.
Find strangers to play with
Find a game lists open lobbies with a free seat, fullest first, and Quick Match drops you into the fullest open lobby in your language or creates one for you. Public games with five or more real players count toward the monthly ranked ladder and the all-time leaderboard.
Phones, tablets and the iPhone app
The website works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on desktop and mobile. The Mafiagg iPhone app on the App Store adds a native console layout, background microphone support and a speaker or earpiece switch. The Android build follows the same codebase and is being prepared for Google Play.
Tips for a good online table
- Use headphones. Echo from open speakers makes bluffing hard for everyone.
- Keep the room private for a friends-only night; open it when you want strangers to fill empty seats.
- Pick the 60-second day timer for fast rounds with regulars and 120 seconds or more for new players.
- Dead players get their own lounge, so nobody has to leave the call after being eliminated.
Questions
- Is Mafiagg free?
- Yes. Creating an account, hosting rooms, playing ranked and using the iPhone app are all free, with no in-game purchases.
- Can I play Mafia online without downloading anything?
- Yes. The full game runs in a browser on desktop and mobile. The iPhone app is optional.
- Can I play with people who speak another language?
- Rooms are created in English or Arabic and the narrator, interface and matchmaking follow that language, so every table shares one language.
